Vivica A. Fox Will Return For ‘Independence Day 2’
When Bill Pullman dumped that big “We will not go quietly into the night!” speech at the end of Independence Day, he really wasn’t kidding. Even though Will Smith will not return, Independence Day 2 is still moving forward, like an enormous alien spaceship slowly approaching the Golden Gate Bridge. Late last night, Roland Emmerich tweeted the latest original Independence Day cast member to join the film:

Vivica A. Fox confirmed the news on Twitter as well:

In the original film, Fox played Jasmine, the girlfriend (and later the wife) of the Will Smith character. She was also a stripper and single mom; Jasmine’s son Dylan, now an adult, will be one of the main characters in the sequel (where he’ll be played by Jessie Usher), joining returning star Jeff Goldblum as computer expert David Levinson and new cast members Charlotte Gainsbourg and Liam Hemsworth. Also there will be aliens, I’m assuming. Probably they will blow stuff up with giant laser beams. But, again, no Will Smith. After After Earth I’m thinking we won’t see him in another sci-fi film for a while. Independence Day 2 opens in theaters on June 24, 2016.
