Exhibits From 9/11 Memorial & Henry Ford Museums to be Included in GR’s Community Day of Remembrance

In honor of those who sacrificed their lives during the terrorist events of Sept. 11, 2001, the exhibit 9/11: A Day That Changed America, on loan from the 9/11 Memorial Museum in New York City, and a rescue vehicle used following the attacks, on loan from the Henry Ford Museum, will be on display at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in downtown Grand Rapids.

The exhibits will be on display as part of the 14th annual Community Day of Remembrance and Scout Salute on Sept. 11, 2015. In addition, Wounded Warriors from the West Michigan region, and the flag that will be flown at the museum during the commemoration, will be escorted into Grand Rapids by fire and police personnel, and more than 200 motorcyclists. Several other events are scheduled during the commemoration.

D.C. Elementary Student Disappointed That President Obama’s Not Beyonce

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama made a surprise stop at The Inspired Teaching School, a Washington, D.C., charter school, on Thursday afternoon to participate in a community service project.

He and other volunteers filled backpacks with books and toys for homeless children at the Inspired Teaching School to mark the September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance. The president also assisted volunteers in building an outdoor playground.

The visit came much to the dismay of a young girl, who had hoped the surprise visitor would be Beyoncé Knowles.

Mobile Exhibit Honoring 9/11 Victims Comes to Ford Museum In Grand Rapids [Video]

A special memorial honoring those who died thirteen years ago during the September 11, 2001, attacks arrived in Grand Rapids Tuesday evening.

A group of Patriot Riders escorted the mobile “9/11 Never Forget” exhibit to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. The exhibit will be a part of the annual remembrance ceremonies scheduled for Thursday at the museum.
