Stevie Wonder Tearfully Remembers Prince on CNN’s Anderson Cooper [VIDEO]

Stevie Wonder teared up while remembering his dear friend, Prince, during an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Thursday (April 21). The soul icon unexpectedly died at the age of 57.

Wonder, who was a longtime friend and collaborator talked about the iconic musician’s ability to bring people of all races together under the experience of his music.

“He was a great musician,” Wonder said in response to a clip where Prince spoke freely about looking up to Wonder as a musician and songwriter and his spiritual connection to his music. “He loved music, he loved playing his instrument. And, you know, the times that we did jam together were amazing.”

Wonder went on to talk about Prince’s musical dexterity. “He brought all the various cultures together,’ he said. “And he could play classical music if he wanted to, he could play jazz if he wanted to, he could play country if he wanted to, he played rock, he played blues, he played pop. You know, everything. He was just a great musician.”

According to Rolling Stone, Prince and Wonder teamed up to put on a private show last summer at the White House. The two musicians performed Wonder’s hit, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” for President Obama and the A-list celebrities in attendance.

When Cooper asked Wonder if he’d like to perform something in his friend’s honor, Wonder choked up.

“I think I would probably break down if I do a song right now,” he said. “I’m just glad that I was able to say to him, ‘I love you,’ the last time I saw him.”
