Six–Year-Old Violin Prodigy Plays ‘Let It Go’ On Her Quarter-Sized Violin [Video]

A six-year-old musician from Sanford, Florida, with only 20 months of lessons has released her own version of “Let It Go,” done on her quarter-sized violin after learning the tune in two weeks.

Leah Flynn’s creative inspiration to perform the song arose after watching the Disney movie, “Frozen,” several times, said her parents, Paula and Lennox Flynn.

Her father, Lennox, an accomplished musician, practiced diligently with Leah on the song. To help her perfect her bowing techniques, violin teacher Jess McKinney, assisted.

Leah and McKinney met this summer at Orangewood Presbyterian Church in Maitland, Fla., where McKinney is an intern.

“Leah is a very fast learner and a very humble little girl. She is phenomenal,” McKinney said.

Leah has been learning and practicing music since she was 3 years old on piano.

She picked up the violin after Flynn saw how quickly his daughter has mastered the piano.

Leah takes weekly violin lessons from Michelle Martin, of Lake Mary, Fla.

Along with performing show tunes such as “Let It Go”, Leah’s repertoire includes a variety of hymns, classical pieces and popular favorites.

She is currently with the Metropolitan Area Youth Symphony Orchestra, which she joined last year; and performs violin solos at churches, senior residences and school concerts. She attends Patmos Chapel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Winter Park, Fla., and her parents say she’s very spiritual.

Her parents have created a YouTube channel for their budding violinist.
