Single Father Kem: ‘Future Mrs. Kem Can Help Me Carry the Load’
Since he spends much of his time away from home, he says he would love to have a wife to ease the burden of being a single father with two daughters.
The R&B and soul singer, songwriter and producer tells Essence: “The future Mrs. Kem can help me carry the load. She has to have my back.
“She would have to be my partner and be able to hold it down if I can’t. She also has to have a good relationship with my kids. You can’t make people get along, but she has to respect my fatherhood.”
Kem’s oldest daughter, Troi, is 19 years old. He says his daughter advises him on his love life.
“She has her opinions about who I’m in relationships with and who may or may not be good for me and why or why not,” said 45-year Detroit native, whose given name is Kim Owens and lives in Nashville. “There’s value in her perspective because she sees me in a way that others don’t see me in and I don’t even see myself in. I appreciate her input.”
Kem kicks off his tour Nov. 14 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with Joe Thomas and <a title=”L’Renee” href=”http://www.lrenee.net/LRenee/LRENEE/LRENEE.html” target=”_blank”>L’Renee</a> the opening acts on the eight-city trek.
