‘Saturday Night Live’ Preview: Drake is Saddest Boy in Canada [Video]

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” will make its 2014 debut on Saturday as rapper Drake pulls double duty as both host and musical guest.

But will cast members new and old pull focus from the Canadian performer?

Though no stranger to “SNL” himself, Drake will at least make his first-time hosting appearance on the installment, despite his acting experience with Canada favorite “Degrassi.”

The new promos split time between Bobby Moynihan and Jay Pharoah, culminating in a lengthy bit that sees both “SNL” cast members attempting to convince the rapper they make beats in the recording studio.

Apart from Drake’s hosting debut on the “SNL” stage, no doubt viewers will tune in for then long-running sketch comedy show’s first black female cast member since Maya Rudolph, the newly hired Sasheer Zamata. NBC’s efforts to improve diversity may also be felt in the writing of newly-hired black female comediennes LaKendra Tookes and Leslie Jones to the writing staff.

Subsequent weeks will see the likes of “Wolf of Wall Street” star Jonah Hill and potentially returning favorite Melissa McCarthy.

In the meantime, check out Drake’s “SNL” promos above, and give us your predictions in the comments.
