Rappers Are Loving Face Swap on Snapchat
If you happen to be an avid Snapchat or MSQRD user than you too have taken full advantage of the filters and face swaps offered to spice up your selfies. At times, the filters are creepy (hints the picture above when Chris Brown turned French Montana into a gorilla) and at other times, the filters are festive and fun. Rappers have obviously taken a liking to not only the new social networks but especially the face swap additions. The unique capabilities are slowly but surely morphing Snapchat and MSQRD, like Instagram and Twitter, into their own news sources and one of the go-to social networks for rappers.
As face swap offers up the chance to turn into President Obama, Batman and an array of animals, rappers just can’t seem to get enough. Most of the filters are highly favored by the hip-hop community but Snapchat did face backlash when it offered users the chance to become Bob Marley on 4/20. A ton of rappers decided to morph into the icon in posts that have since been deleted, after realizing that the filter was sort of a modern day way to do blackface. The app created the filter of Marley in connection with his estate. “Millions of Snapchatters have enjoyed Bob Marley’s music, and we respect his life and achievements,” Snapchat said. “[The lens] gives people a new way to share their appreciation for Bob Marley and his music.” The company has yet to address the actual blackface incident.
Aside from that incident, there are many other exceptional face swaps out there. Check out some of the best ones below.
