Nation’s Top Recruit Rashan Gary Picks Michigan Over Clemson [VIDEO]

The top high school player in the nation is headed to Ann Arbor, after defensive lineman Rashan Gary announced that he was going to play for Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines.

Gary made the announcement on ESPN earlier today (2/3), choosing the University of Michigan over other college football powerhouses, like Clemson, Alabama, and Auburn:

According to, all four major recruiting services had Gary as their top prospect. He stands 6’4″ and clocks in at 290 lbs, but has the athleticism of someone much smaller.

It was long expected that Gary would choose the University of Michigan, so this doesn’t come as all that much of a surprise. The Wolverines hired Gary’s former high school coach Chris Partridge in 2015 to be their director of recruiting operations and two of Gary’s former teammates already suit up for the Wolverines: Jabrill Peppers and Juwanna Bushell-Beatty.

Gary had offers from almost every powerhouse football program in the country, including the aforementioned Clemson, Alabama, and Auburn. He also had offers from Notre Dame, LSU, and Michigan rivals Ohio State and Michigan State.

Getting Gary’s commitment is expected to vault the Wolverines into the conversation for this year’s best recruiting class.
