Movie Review: ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water’ [Video]
The latest SpongeBob Square Pants adventure is “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.”
I think it’s a given that kids who watch his adventures on Nickelodeon are going to love it.
The he question is: Can an adult or parent sit through the movie without wanting to poke out their eyes?
The answer is yes.
Besides enjoying seeing my two grandkids howl at SpongeBob’s every move, I was able to laugh at the outrageousness of SpongeBob and all of his underwater pals on the big screen.
In “Sponge out of Water” a salty pirate, Burger Beard (portrayed by Antonio Banderas), steals the crabby patty secret recipe and SpongeBob and friends have to enter the real world to try and retrieve it.
It’s a simple plot with hilarious situations.
Some of the scenes are over the top with rude humor, earning the film a PG rating, but I don’t think any kids will be trying to mimic the action of SpongeBob.
The movie is a visual sensation in 3D and the constant cartoon action should keep any 3- to 4-year-old engaged for the entire 93 minutes of the movie.
I enjoyed watching the movie with my family, and I think you’ll enjoy it, too.
On my Hollywood Popcorn Scale, I rate “The SpongeBob Movie” a large.
