Michael Jackson Molestation Case Dismissed By Judge

A California judge has dismissed a lawsuit which alleged that Michael Jackson molested his former dancer Wade Robson, explaining that the accuser had waited too many years to pursue a legal case.

As MyNewsLA reports (via People), Robson required a judge’s approval to bring his legal claim to trial, since his allegations surfaced almost four years after the singer’s death in June of 2009. L.A. Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff told the court, “Even assuming the plaintiff’s position is correct … both parties before the court recognize that any such (impediment) exists only for a reasonable time period after any violence, intimidation or threatening conduct by the decedent ceases.” In other words, even if there’s any truth to what Robson is saying, it would have been to his legal benefit to say it sooner — and now he has no case.

Robson is a dancer who has most notably worked with Jackson, Britney Spears and ‘N Sync, and appeared on So You Think You Can Dance as well as his own 2003 MTV show, The Wade Robson Project. In May 2013, he filed court papers alleging that Jackson had molested him between 1990 and 1997. According to NY Daily News, this directly contradicted a statement he made under oath in a separate 2005 Jackson sexual abuse case, in which he swore that Jackson never touched him inappropriately in their time together. Robson later said that he recovered repressed memories of abuse in 2012 during a therapy session.

MyNewsLA also reports that one of Robson’s attorneys, Henry Gradstein, says they still have the option to pursue another claim against a corporate entity Michael Jackson established before his death. Stay tuned.
