Pop, R&B and dance music veteran Martha Wash today released her single, “Dream On,” a fresh version of the 1973 Aerosmith classic.

“Dream On” is the fourth single released apart from Wash’s album “Something Good.”

The album marked the two-time Grammy Award nominee’s first offering in 20 years and the first release through her own independent label, Purple Rose Records.

For almost three decades, Wash’s powerful voice has fueled pop and dance music hits ranging from the perennial classic “It’s Raining Men” (done with The Weather Girls) to No. 1 Billboard hits like “Everybody, Everybody” (with Black Box) and “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” (with C+C Music Factory).

Her last single, “I’m Not Coming Down,” hit No. 2 on the Billboard Dance Chart after its release last year.

“Something Good” also includes the ballad “I’ve Got You.”

Wash says “Dream On” is indicative of the direction she took with the entire album.

“I am so proud of ‘Something Good’ because it really showcases my versatility,” the 60-year-old vocalist said. “I’m giving you the dance flavor, but I’m also giving you pop, soul and a little Aerosmith, all Martha-ized.

“It’s been 20 years since people have heard new music from me, so I am trying to reach everyone with this one. I want them to see how I’ve grown musically.”

In spring 2015, Purple Rose Records is poised to release singles from the First Ladies of Disco — Linda Clifford, Evelyn “Champagne” King and Wash — and Bill Wadhams, the lead vocalist of ’80s pop band Animotion.
