As Twitter continues to slam Rachel Dolezal, president of the NAACP in Spokane, Wash., for falsely identifying as a black woman, some of the music industry’s finest are chiming in with their own thoughts.

Keri Hilson is the latest singer to speak on the scandal. But instead of blasting Dolezal, whose parents revealed her true ethnicity, which is Czech, Swedish and German with traces of Native American, Hilson thinks we should thank her. “Let’s just all thank #RachelDolezal,” the “Know You Down” artist tweeted on Friday (June 12). “Identity, pathological, & parental issues aside, she’s doing more than most of us do for ourselves.”

While she’s entitled to her opinion, Hilson’s fans (and haters) didn’t care too much for her sentiments. Many slammed her for speaking for the entire black race, while others categorized Hilson’s behavior as typical of African-American entertainers. “Black celebs do this all the time. Blame us for our shortcomings while heaping praise on a questionable white person,” a man responded to Hilson.

The In a Perfect World… creator isn’t the only person to get in on the Twitter conversation about Dolezal’s lies. Power 105.1 radio personality Charlamagne seemed to be confused about the reactions towards Dolezal. “So how can Bruce Jenner identify with what he wants to identify with but Rachel Dolezal can’t? I’m confused about this…,” he tweeted. Meanwhile Talib Kweli took the tongue-in-cheek approach. “So just landed in Germany and I get on Twitter to find out Soul Man was actually a documentary for some #RachelDolezal,” he tweeted.
