Ludacris has been in four of the The Fast and the Furious movies, including Furious 7 out last week.

However, Ludacris’ role initially could have gone to Ja Rule, who had a cameo in the first movie in 2001, The Fast and the Furious.

John Singleton directed the second movie in the series, 2 Fast, 2 Furious.

“Ja got too big for himself. He turned it down. He turned down a half a million dollars,” Singleton told Grantland. “He got $15,000 to be in the first movie. He was really big at that time. …

“He was acting like he was too big to be in the sequel. He wouldn’t return calls. … (So) I called Ludacris. (He) was all humble; excited to meet me. I said, ‘I’m doing this movie; … want to be a part of it?’ He goes, ‘What? Yeah!”’
