Grand Rapids’ Zoo School Named Among Top 14 Most Innovative Schools in U.S.
A Grand Rapids’ educational program is getting national recognition.
To determine the ranking, Tech Insider consulted experts from Google, InnoveEdu, and Noodle to create a list of schools that embody cutting-edge learning:
Together, the schools demonstrate that equations and vocabulary tests, while essential, aren’t the only things that matter in schooling. They’re a small piece of the much larger pursuit to mold young minds.”
GRPS’ Zoo School at the John Ball Zoological Garden made their list!
During the hands-on, year-long program, which is limited to 60 sixth graders, students raise animals, take classes on anatomy and astronomy, and develop research projects which they present at the end of the year.
Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal told MLive,
“We are excited to see Zoo School being recognized for its innovation. Zoo School is a great example of one of our many place-based options, which give kids unique opportunities beyond the traditional four walls of the classroom.”
