Gladys Knight Headlining Super Bowl Gospel Celebration

The “Empress of Soul,” Gladys Knight, is headlining the 16th annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration on Friday in the Phoenix area, with broadcasts Sunday on BET and Centric.
Helping kick off weekend activities for Super Bowl XLIX, which is Sunday in Glendale, Ariz., the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration is being co-hosted by actress Holly Robinson Peete and retired NFL player and television personality and commentator Rodney Peete.
Also taking part are entertainers Tichina Arnold, Natalie Grant, Anthony Hamilton, Fred Hammond, Dave Hollister, Israel Houghton, David Mann, Tamela Mann, Mali Music, Donnie McClurkin and DeWayne Woods and athletes Antonio Brown (of Central Michigan University and the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers), DeSean Jackson (Washington Redskins), Ray Lewis, Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona Cardinals), Rashad Jennings (New York Giants), Deion Sanders, Devon Still (Cincinnati Bengals) and the NFL Players Choir (featuring current and retired players).
The evening will feature special tributes to late gospel music legend Andrae Crouch and beloved ESPN sportscaster Stuart Scott. In addition, Hamilton and Hollister will join Woods for a performance of the new song “Friend of Mine.”
American Family Insurance and BET co-sponsored a contest to select a performer at the celebration.
The concert is 7:30 p.m. MST at ASU Gammage on Arizona State University’s campus in Tempe, Ariz. Tickets are on sale.
The show will air at 10 a.m. EST Sunday on BET and 2 p.m. EST Sunday on Centric.
