Ed Sheeran Placed on Vocal Rest, Will Communicate Via Whiteboard
Ed Sheeran has been ordered by doctors to go on total vocal rest, so he won’t be able to speak at all when he isn’t performing. The good news? He was given a white board, so he’ll be able to communicate somehow.
The “Thinking Out Loud” singer made the announcement to fans via Twitter earlier today (March 24), writing, “Been told by the vocal doc not to talk at all between shows and they’re giving me a white board to communicate with, could prove interesting.” There’s no mention as to how long Ed will remain on vocal rest, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be forced to cancel any tour dates in the foreseeable future. Ed is currently on tour in Australia — with eight sold-out shows spanning March 24 to April 2 — so we hope whatever vocal issues he has sort themselves out quickly.
The news comes less than 24 hours after the release of his latest music video for his current single with Rudimental, “Bloodstream.” The video stars Ray Liotta as an aging rockstar with way too much money and not much else. The Goodfellas actor does a fantastic job embodying the type of figure who’s fallen from glory and is left feeling empty and alone.
Ed also announced the launch of his very own record label, Gingerbread, to which he already signed singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson. He told Nova FM (quote via Digital Spy), “I wanted Australia to be the launch pad because Australia is a country that I feel would really really dig Jamie.”
