BET to Stream Legendary Gospel Artist Andrae Crouch’s Funeral Services Live

A celebration of legendary gospel singer, composer and producer Andraé Crouch‘s life takes place Tuesday and Wednesday in Los Angeles, and BET will be streaming both funeral services, officials announced today.

Crouch, a Grammy and Dove award winner and pastor, died Jan. 8 in Northridge, Calif., after suffering a heart attack. He was 72 years old.

The public services include a tribute celebration at 10 p.m. EST Tuesday and a celebration of life 2 p.m. EST Wednesday, with visitation before each at West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles.

BET will stream both services http://www.BET.com/andraecrouchfuneral. West Angeles Church of God In Christ will also stream the services at http://watch.westa.tv.

“People are coming from all over the world to say goodbye, from as far away as Japan and South Africa” Crouch publicist Brian Mayes said. “Sandra Crouch and everyone on Andraé’s team appreciate the outpouring of love and support from the fans, media and music community. He would have been completely overwhelmed.”

The funerals will be officiated by Bishop Kenneth Ulmer, with a eulogy by Pastor Marvin Winans. The services will include appearances and performances by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Yolanda Adams, Kurt Carr, Donnie McClurkin, Donald Lawrence, Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Fred Hammond, BeBe Winans, CeCe Winans, Hezekiah Walker, Kirk Franklin, Bobby Jones, Kim Burrell, Pastor Shirley Ceasar, Byron Cage, Edwin Hawkins, Lynette Hawkins-Stephens, David and Nicole Binion, Erica Campbell, Smokey Norful, Richard Smallwood, Israel Houghton, Bryan Duncan, Ledisi, Tata Vega and more.

An all-star band has been assembled by Mano Hanes and Bill Maxwell, including an 80-voice choir.

Crouch’s accolades include seven Grammy Awards, six Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, an Academy Award nomination for “The Color Purple,” induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His songs have been recorded by artists from Elvis Presley to Paul Simon, and he worked as a producer and arranger with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Quincy Jones, Diana Ross, Elton John and many others.

He can also be heard on Jackson’s hit singles “Man in the Mirror,” “Keep the Faith,” “Will You Be There” and “Earth Song.”
