2Pac Criticizes Donald Trump in Unreleased 1992 Interview

Much to the chagrin of many Americans, the Donald Trump train continues to roll on and rappers are taking a stand with protest music and by encouraging people to vote against the Republican candidate. Back in 1992, when the United States was on the verge of becoming the economic juggernaut of the world, 2Pac spoke on Trump’s influence on the business world and the economic inequality plaguing the country.

“This world is such a gimme, gimme, gimme, everybody back off place,” said the deceased rapper in an interview unearthed by MTV News. “You’re taught that in school and in big business if you want to be successful, if you want to be like Trump, it’s ‘Gimme, gimme, gimme. Push, push, push. Step, step, step. Crush, crush, crush.”

During the respective campaign speeches made by the 2016 presidential candidates, fair wages and income inequality has been a huge talking point as the gap between the rich and poor continues to expand at an alarming rate. 2Pac was having these same thoughts nearly 25 years ago and thought that even then the gap was ridiculous.

“Nobody should be hitting lotto for $36 million when we have people starving in the streets. That is not idealistic, that is real, that is just stupid,” he said. “There’s no way that Michael Jackson–or any Jackson–should have millions of dollars while other people are starving, there’s no way! There’s no way that people should own planes when people don’t have apartments, shacks, drawers, pants.”

In the end, ‘Pac called for a revolutionary person to spark a change in the world.

“I think there’s a way to pay these people, I think there is a way. It just takes someone to be revolutionary and do something out of the ordinary.

Unfortunately, that person could have been the late, great rapper.
